Furrion RV Air Conditioners - FR23TD

Highlights

  • Fast Cooling for Hot Days: 15,000 Btu per hour capacity quickly drops cabin temps when heat builds up.
  • Smooth Startups on Limited Power: Start capacitor stores energy to help jump-start the AC even when campsite or generator power is low.
  • Quieter Nights Inside: Rubber dampeners on the compressor cut vibration and noise for calmer operation.
  • Reliable Cooling in Any Setup: Works with ducted or non-ducted systems using a manual air distribution box.
  • Built to Withstand the Elements: UV-resistant cover and EPP foam housing protect components from water and debris.
  • Ready for Future Standards: Uses R32 refrigerant that meets 2025 EPA regulations for cleaner performance.

Features to know about

Cools Fast in the Heat: 15,000 Btu High Efficiency Performance

When the inside starts heating up, this 15,000 Btu air conditioner gets the job done quickly. Dual motors push more air through the cabin than a single motor design, so temperatures drop fast. The R32 refrigerant keeps things efficient and meets 2025 EPA regulations, making it ready for the next standard in cooling.

Keeps Power Steady on Weak Hookups: Built-In Start Capacitor

Low campground voltage doesn’t have to stop your AC from firing up. The built-in start capacitor stores energy to give the compressor an extra boost when power is limited or the generator is running small. It then saves that energy for your next startup, keeping cool air flowing without tripping breakers.

Cuts Down Vibration and Noise: Rubber-Dampened Compressor

Nobody likes an AC that rattles or drones. This system uses rubber dampeners on the compressor to absorb vibration and reduce noise. At an indoor sound pressure level of 80 dB, it keeps operation smoother and quieter so you can relax while it runs.

Built Tough and Easy to Maintain: UV-Resistant, Foam-Insulated Housing

The EPP foam housing is water and chemical resistant, while the UV-resistant cover protects internal parts from sun and debris. Thermal insulation helps regulate internal temperature to prevent overheating. Removable air filters make cleaning simple and help prevent dust buildup for long-term performance.

Simple Retrofit Installation: Bolt-On Design with Included Mounting Hardware

Installing this complete system is straightforward with bolt-on mounting. It’s designed for both ducted and non-ducted setups and includes hardware for the air distribution box. EVA foam seals between the ceiling and air box to prevent leaks and keep airflow tight. The whole setup runs on 115V power draw at 15.4 amps with an energy efficiency ratio of 7.1, offering dependable cooling in a compact rooftop unit that weighs 84 lbs.

Recieved in timely manner. Some damage to the box and some to the coils on the back. Didn't get a chance to take a pic was trying g to get it in before the rain started. Simple hook up and the room was cold cold was told we need another blanket lol. Was also missing screws foe the top cover may have been missed when putting back together for shipping.

Only draw back is it's a little louder than what some of the videos show

Great service! I will order from etrailer again, I was very pleased with every part of the process.

by:

Arrived ups excellent condition in two days, can't beat that. Hardest part of installing was removing the vent where I was installing the air conditioner. Seems to be cooling very well. Etrailer are always great to deal with.

by:

Knowable phone help, and fast delivery

by:

Fred was great very helpful everything came when he said great experience

by:

The a/c unit is doing the job.

The
lack of dump/vent is the primary deficiency.

Etrailer is a five star organization.

Great customer service

Had an issue out of the gate with my ac unit cover having broken tabs. Carol from customer service was amazing when I came to taking care of everything I needed including prompt and thorough follow up throughout the process, and ultimately get it replaced. etrailers customer service is in a word OUTSTANDING!!!

by:

Replaced a 26-year-old Coleman Mack (compressor failure) with this. 90-degree, humid Midwest temps no challenge for this. On medium cool I an bring the RV down to 70 degrees inside. Easy install. I did it myself. I like the rotary controls on the disruption panel. I have a hard time with the touch screen thermostats and controllers. Very good replacement for an Older RV with an aging A/C unit.

by:

Works very well. Appears well made, but this AC is LOUD.

by:

Five. Stars on the product maybe two stars on the instructions. Good thing for YouTube and that I’ve installed one before.

by:

by:

This AC unit being the 3rd one in 2 months from you. Works great. The other 2 units “Advent” are garbage. Put the box never worked.

Thank you to
All Etrailer reps. You all have been amazing.

by:

Pretty straight forward to install, customer service was awesome would recommend this item from etrailers

by:

Order was shipped the same day I placed it. Arrived 2 days later.
Everything I needed for the install was included.

by:

I got this unit as a second unit for the front bedroom on my fifth wheel. My trailer had the prep package for an A/C unit so install was relatively straight forward with minimal issues. Once I completed the install I wanted to test it while my trailer was hooked up to a 15amp 120v circuit in my house and the unit started up and ran full power with no issues whatsoever. I fully expect to love the low power and low startup surge of this unit when running of generator or solar generator.

by:

A little loud with air dump open but I might just cut that out because it’s pretty dang quiet without the white cover on or I may make a little chute that comes straight down from the fan out of the vent. Not sure yet but the open/close of the air dump is what makes it so loud but it cools nicely!

etrailer.com has the best customer support I have dealt with on the internet. Great people, great value! Fan for life!!

by:

Installation went quickly and all items were shipped quickly and damage free. Unit cooled nicely but we have yet to put it to the test for more than just initial startup. I do wish it had some sort of condensate collection pan that could be routed with a drain line but that is specific to our application. Fan noise inside is likely louder than most would like but we prefer to have the white noise for sleeping, so no harm done there! The unit itself is very quiet on the outside which is a nice change from the aged unit we replaced. Overall sound product provided it lasts the test of time!

  • Availability of 15,000 Btu AC Replacement for Coleman Mach
Hi Brad; the Furrion Chill HE # FR32PV worked as a replacement before but we can no longer guarantee compatibility. We found that the majority of the time the plug would line up but the system wouldn't work. Even if it did work, you run the risk of burning up your air distribution box (ADB) and will need a replacement. A complete replacement would then be necessary since the Furrion R410A ADB has been discontinued with everything moving to R32 refrigerant. The same is true for other brands...

  • Soft Start for Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System
Hi Gary; for a soft start you can use the SoftStartRV # SSR54FR or for a plug in version the Active Controls ActiveStart # AS44FR (30 amp) or # SSR64FR (50 Amp). All of these are compatible with the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR23TD. Since you're replacing an AC have you considered the Chill Cube? The new AC from Furrion doesn't really need a soft start with the variable speed compressor. It is incredibly efficient, quiet, and offers more cooling power. If you have a...

  • Replacement AC for Dometic on 2013 Keystone Cougar
Hi Leonard; are you referring to the # FR26TD and # FR86TD? Those are partial part numbers so I'm not 100% sure. If you were looking at the old R410A units I recommend steering clear and upgrading to one of these R32 units. Everything has shifted to R32 refrigerant due to the 2025 EPA requirements, and all of the old parts and systems have been phased out. Since they aren't backwards compatible you will need the AC, air distribution box (ADB), and thermostat. You can choose from the following: -Furrion...

  • Replacement RV AC Unit Recommendation for 1997 Holiday Rambler Endeavor
Hey Randy, yes the Furrion Chill HE like the part # FR23TD that you referenced will work with the Micro Air thermostat that you have so this would be a great option for you. This kit also includes all of the needed hardware to install in your Holiday Rambler Endeavor as well. These will be a lot quieter and efficient than what you have now too. How did you like the Dometics?

  • Replacement AC Unit for a Dometic B59516
Hey Ronny, thanks for the information. We do not have anything plug and play that is going to be compatible with your Dometic B59516. Those systems have been replaced in recent years. Instead, I recommend the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System item # FR95TD for 13,500 btu or the item # FR23TD 15,000 btu. These are complete AC systems that have everything you need to replace your Dometic. They work in both ducted and ductless setups. Please note that the Furrion Chill HE systems...

  • Furrion Chill AC For A 2005 Casita 17 Spirit Deluxe
Hi Lauris, cool name! With your 2005 Casita 17 Spirit Deluxe being on the small size, I think the 18,000 BTU Furrion Chill Cube will be a bit overkill, so I recommend going with a 15k Chill HE unit. You could also go with a 13.5k set up, but the 15k units are more efficient and are only a little more expensive, so I think it's worth it. No there is not Mike. The Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System item # FR23TD has multiple holes in the drain pan to allow condensation build up to evenly drain out onto the roof of your RV. With this design there isn't a way to connect a tube and control the direction of the water as it drains. You can see how many drain holes there are highlighted in the picture below.
